A bit about developmental movement and yoga:
Developmental movement is the study of the evolution of human movement. This includes embryological development, ontogenetic development (1st year/ coming to vertical and contralateral motion) and phylogenetic (development of the species from single cells to contralateral and upright bodies)… The developmental process and history of our bodies and cognition underlies the actions that we make in all movement. Yoga asana mimics developmental patterns, and often the developmental pattern is the key to “right” alignment. Too often western science breaks the body into small pieces or single systems and doesn’t regard the whole organism’s efficiency. Developmental movement is a study of full body, energetic patterns of movement and support. Understanding these full body patterns allows for an unparalleled experience of connectedness and ease in movement and being. My teaching of this approach to yoga is greatly influenced by my teachers Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen and Amy Mathews.

All levels
Any body that is interested in efficient and enjoyable movement practice
Those who are willing to let go of rules and explore intuitive movement
Yoga or movement teachers and practitioners that are interested in anatomical/physiological origins
