Exploring and understanding developmental movement patterns is understanding fundamental strength in movement in the purest sense. Practice and exploration of these patterns guides a student to a deep understanding of internal support that can be applied to any movement practice.
Basics and overview workshop OCT 1st (PLEASE NOTE: 4 hours with a break, all others 2 1/2 hours long) -
Introduction to developmental movement: a broad overview of embryology and movement patterns in the first year of life. How we learn to move as human beings and the development of our body systems and awareness in utero, the contexts and conditions of development that bring us to verticality and efficient, easeful, contralateral movement.
Introduction to Embodied Developmental Movement and Yoga- October 1st, 3pm-7pm
part 1- Pre-vertebral and vertebral patterns- October 8th, 3pm-5:30pm
part 2- Reflexes, righting reactions and equilibrium responses- October 15th, 3pm-5:30pm
part 3- Planes of motion: gravity and space- October 22nd, 3pm-5:30pm
part 4- The vestibular system and senses of perception- October 29th, 3pm-5:30pm

Yoga For Women of all Ages

The People’s Yoga- 3016 NE Killingsworth
$90/ 3 classes OR $35/ individual class
October 2nd, 2-4pm – Yoga for Young Women: Ages 11-18
Asana (posture) practice for regulating hormonal fluctuations and balancing monthly cycles. Meditation and pranayama (breathing) to support concentration, emotional and mental equilibrium. Short sequences to take with you and practice daily and how to maintain a consistent self-practice.
November 6th, 2-4 pm – Yoga for Women: Ages 18-40
Maintaining balance in the hormonal and endocrine systems through child-bearing years. Specific women’s practice issues: female pelvic/ reproductive anatomy, asana sequences for different times of the month, energizing, restorative and strengthening sequences.
December 4th, 2-4pm – Yoga for Wise Women: Ages 40-100
Pre/post-menopausal practice. Sequences for hormonal balancing, care of bones and connective tissue. Yoga asana, pranayama and meditation for strength maintenance and deep relaxation.
