Bio

I have always been an avid movement practitioner. Starting with classical dance and gymnastics at an early age, I began my studies in movement and dance therapy at age 13 when I made the decision to leave the public school system and pursue my education through creative projects. I spent the next 5 years apprenticing and working closely with Melissa Michaels (5 Rhythms) developing an understanding of the body’s ability for catharsis, healing and transcendence through movement and breath. During this time I also pursued studies with Annie Brooke (Body Mind Centering, Developmental Movement) in body-mind centering, anatomy, and somatic psychology. It was from this background that I came to be a student in the practice of yoga.

I have studied various styles of yoga asana, pranayama and meditation. My primary teachers have been Richard Freeman, with whom I completed a 200-hour and 100-hour teacher training of yoga asana and philosophy, Jessica Goldberg and Eugene Poku for Ashtanga yoga and Acro Yoga, Dina Tsouluhas and Mark Darby. I continue to study with Richard Freeman and Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, the founder of Body Mind Centering.

In addition to my studies in yoga and somatics I hold a Bachelor in Fine Arts from Concordia University in Montréal where I focused on video and aural art and new media theory. I have worked as a curator for new media and installation art and I continue to work on various projects with video, sound and dance.
